Arguably one of the most popular drinks, the margarita made with tequila, limes and an orange liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec) gets a Cook with Meg twist, with punchy pomegranate juice and a sweet sugary rim instead of salt!

Arguably one of the most popular drinks, the margarita made with tequila, limes and an orange liqueur.

  • Small saucepan
  • Pitcher
  • Mason jar for syrup
  • Drink glasses


POM SIMPLE SYRUP INGREDIENTS (makes a mason jar of syrup)

  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar 


  • Small plate with 1/4 c white granulated sugar 
  • Small plate with 2 tbsp pom syrup


  • ice cubes
  • 1 oz simple syrup (2 tbsp)
  • 1 oz tequila (2 tbsp)
  • ½ oz orange liqueur- Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec (1 tbsp)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice (2 tbsp)
  • 1/2-3/4 c pomegranate or cranberry juice
  • lime wheels for garnish optional



  • In a small saucepan, add 1 cup pom juice and 1 cup of granulated white sugar. Whisk and stir on medium heat until it reaches a boil. Let boil 2-3 minutes then take off the heat.
  • Pour into a 2 C pyrex or mason jar to cool.


  • Dip the edge of the glasses in the pom juice then the sugar. Set aside.


  • In a cocktail shaker, add ice, tequila, pom syrup, orange liqueur, lime juice and juice. Shake then pour into individual glasses with a lime wheel on each glass.
  • In a pitcher, double or triple the ingredients and stir really well then pour into glasses.
