Equipment

  • 8×8 or 9×9 pan/baking dish
  • Non Stick Spray
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

FOR THE CRUST

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup sliced almonds
  • ¼ tsp salt

FOR THE FILLING

  • 3-4 large pears diced
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon

FOR THE TOPPING

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Line an 8×8 or 9×9 pan with parchment and spray with cooking spray.
  • Combine all the crust ingredients and mix with electric beaters, or a stand mixer, or use your muscles. You want it to look crumbly.
  • Press the crust in the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Dice the pears into small chunks and put into a medium saucepan. Fill the pan with water until they cover the pears, cook for about 8 mins, you want them to start to get a little shiny and look translucent. Drain.
  • In the same bowl you used for the crust, add all the topping ingredients and mix, again until it’s crumbly.
  • Drain the pears, then sprinkle with the filling ingredients: cinnamon and sugar.
  • Remove the hot crust from the oven. Sprinkle the DRAINED pears carefully on top, then cover with crumble topping.
  • Bake for an additional 25 mins or so until everything is browned and bubbly
  • Cool then slice. NEXT LEVEL: Top with caramel before serving
  • Homemade Caramel: 1 cup butter, 1 c brown sugar,1 splash good vanilla,1/2 c whipping or heavy cream, 1 pinch salt. Melt in saucepan and stir until it starts to boil, take off heat and pour into a mason jar to thicken and cool
